New to Ancestris and have some questions

I have switched from Windows to LInux and was looking for a good genealogy program to replace what I was using on WIndows (My Family Tree). I have settled on Ancestris as the best alternative. I did try using Gramps, but it was not only unintuitive but driving me crazy with transfer of media (think I accidentally clicked the make the files onto a relative path which then duplicated the entire path and also added the path to my file names). Anyhow I gave up on it in pure frustration then found Ancestris and have been enjoying using it very much. I do have a couple of questions I cannot find answers to though.
1. Does Ancestris not have it own proprietary file system and just uses a *.ged file for all of its data? If so where does it store things like config files for how the windows are set up and for where media files are placed?
2. I want to sync my genealogy and media files between two computers with a USB key. What is my best option for doing this?
Any help is gratefully received and thanks for making such a great piece of software!

1. Ancestris uses only GEDCOM file to store genealogical data.
We use an user directory (".ancestris/[version]/") to store configuration files.

Media files are not "stored". The GEDCOM describe the path of the files, Ancestris read the path and display the file if possible.
Therefore, if you move your media files after you "link" them into Ancestris, the software won't be able to display them.
The best way is to organize your media files on your computer before link them into the software.

2. The best way is to put on your USB key the GEDCOM file and create a directory for the media on the key, then use the relative path of the files to keep consistency between the GEDCOM file and the media files.
Everything is on your key, everything is relative, you can plug your key in any computer and make it work.
