Ancestris for Android?
« on: January 10, 2025, 10:20:13 »
Moin from East Frisia!
Years ago I had six visitors from the USA and two from France.
Not long after welcoming them and taking their seats, they all had their tablets in their hands and were eagerly comparing genealogical data.
I can't remember what kind of tablets or operating systems they were using. Perhaps they were all online...
Java or OpenJDK could be used with Android?
If so, it would be interesting to be able to use Ancestris on such systems.
Greetings, Dieter

As far as I know, Android doesn't allow general use of Java.
When Netbeans will be available for such platform, Ancestris will be available.

Thank you, Zurga!
Unfortunately, I know too little to be able to judge whether NetBeans is needed for programming and / or for the execution (interpreter) of Java applications.
For me, and I'm sure for other Ancestris fans, it would be very interesting to be able to use Ancestris on an Android tablet!

The point is that Ancestris is a customization of Netbeans.
No Netbeans, no Ancestris.

Thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately I have no basic knowledge about the 'functionality' of NetBeans and all the 'interweavings' with Java/OpenJDK and specific software, like Ancestris in this case.
