GEDCOM 7 conversion

Thank you so much for all the hard work.
I will start using it but with extreme care, and make a backup of my tree first.

This is a really huge step forward!
Sofar there are not much programs showing they have anything done yet for Gedcom 7.

I still not sure why the use of GEDCOM 7 is a huge step.
GEDCOM 7 is not used by the majority of others softwares and not used by the most popular genealogy sites.
So actually is more a geek tool than a useful exchange format.

Well i think to make Gedom 7 more popular, more different genealogie programs have to implement it.
So thats why i think its a huge step.

Ancestris now belongs to one of the first to make this work.

When its more tested in Ancestris, so a bit more reliable, Ancestris can "advertize" with it.
And so attrack more users.

I intend to put a message about it on the Dutch forum too, but only when more tests have been done.

Otherwise users might be disappointed when it does have bugs.
Most users dont understand it takes time to get things working completely.

So until then I will not mention it in the Dutch forum.

I really doubt that Ancestris will attract users with a GEDCOM version.
The software "My Family Tree" has GEDCOM 7 support since the day of the release of the norm.
I never had read that lot of people have changed of software for this specific feature.

The great advantage of Ancestris is, that it is always 100% Gedcom compliant.

So after things are sorted out, users can turn to Ancestris to have there Gedcom 7 files tested for correctness.

In my opinion, when gedcom 7 is ready in Ancestris, you should start advertizing with that.
The fact you can use it to check Gedcom 7 files.

Then, when new users do that, they might stay with Ancestris.
When they found out the possibilities of it, while testing their Gedcom 7.

There will be no other program in the near future, that has that possibility!
