Export single branch
« on: May 15, 2023, 03:31:14 »
I would like to export a single branch of my tree to share with someone. I have read the document but still am unsure on how to do this.  Any help would be appreciated.

The concept to realize a branch export is to use "Save as" function.
Create a new file with the selected data you want.

You can use all the selections functions of Ancestris to define the data you want to export (for example, select a family group from the family group report or make and advance search and select the results).
Once you have marked the data from a way or another one, use the "Save as" and select the marked data.
Create the new file, you will have only the selected data.
Eventually, use Ancestris to adjust the remaining data if there is few data to remove.

Thank you.  Using the save as makes sense.  I am still struggling to select the proper people.  I would like to save the line of each of my grandparents as a separate gedcom.  Could you provide some additional detail on how to select a branch to be able to save it.  I am sure I am missing something very basic but I just can't figure it out.  I love the capabilities of this software but find it very frustrating trying to figure out some of the features.  Thank you for your patience.

No trouble here, we have all begun one day.

The most basic selection is the SOSA/D'aboville numbering. ( Menu "Edit => "Generate Sosa Numbers"  https://docs.ancestris.org/books/user-guide/page/generate-sosa-numbers )
Clear all the numbering, number from the individual you want.
Export only individuals with the numbering.
Then repeat ;)

In your case :
- Display one of your grand-parents
- Clear the numbering
- Number SOSA from this grand-parent
- Save as with selecting individual with _SOSA tag
- Repeat for each grand-parent.
