move children to another marriage
« on: March 24, 2022, 03:10:30 »
Greetings--

I'm trying to fix my father-in-law's GED data in Ancestris.

Situation: Three children are attached to the wrong parent.

More specifically:
- Edward J. re-married a Lois S.
- Lois S. had three children from a previous marriage to Mr. B. (not in the GED data)
- The children were attached to the marriage of Edward J and Lois S

A consistency check flagged this.
I created a Mr. B. as a spouse of Lois S.

I'm trying to figure out how to move the children; I don't see anything in the UI to do this. I searched the online help for the word "detach" but that didn't show anything. I used the word detach because that's what the tooltip text is for the button to view a child: "Display, Create, Add, or Detach a Child." However, clicking that button only seems to change what's displayed.

(I also didn't find anything in this forum.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Right-click on button.
You will have context-menu with all options.

Thanks Zurga,

Very helpful, not quite obvious. (And I quickly figured out the attach functionality after that.)

Almost all elements in the software could have a context menu with actions.
Don't hesitate to test.
