Why is there a spining beach ball
« on: December 06, 2021, 05:26:47 »
I am a new user on a Mac OS Ancestris application.  Even though nothing is processing my cursor is a spinning beach ball.  Sometimes the message talks about linkage.

What is "linkage"?
Why do I have a beach ball?  It normally indicates that a process is running and unfinished.

Coule you indicate the size of your GEDCOM file ? How number of individuals do you have ?
The "linkage" is a phase where the link between individuals are created in memory.
So there is a phase not finished and therefore, the "spinning" version of the cursor is relevant.

Ancestris is an all in memory software, so all you genealogical data are placed in memory.
You can add some memory with the preferences windows : https://docs.ancestris.org/books/user-guide/page/preferences
