MacOS version cannot find
« on: April 26, 2021, 16:36:15 »
I have exported a GEDCOM file from another application, and the file is in my "Downloads" folder.  The "Open GEDCOM" dialog in Ancestris does not show the file.  It shows no files at all, regardless of what folder I look in.

What filter is the "Open GEDCOM" applying?

Bad news, Apple is a bad guy for free software.
We can't afford the price asked by Apple to be a "recognized developer" and therefore Ancestris to be de "Secured" application.
In consequence, the software is unable to access to the following folders :
- Documents,
- Desktop
- Downloads

Please move the GEDCOM file to another folder and you will be able to import it in Ancestris.

Not at all.
We struggle to use the developer program => Applicant for association is not direct, we have to be authorized and we have to know this is possible (Thanks for that Philou74)
We struggle to use XCode => If you don't buy a Mac, you almost can't install it.
We struggle to notarize and sign he code => We can't do it for the daily version.

Therefore, no, I don't change my mind.
It's not an easy job to create a free application for MacOS platform.

Maybe it's already asked 100 times: I tired to install on macOS 11.4 but it doesn't start. -sad-
That's why the question: is there a github repository to give me the chance fix this ?
Anyway, if the current blocker to support a macOS version a mission dev account, then maybe I donate it. But first I want to see the public repo.

Could you indicate what error message you have ?
Did you have installed Java ?
Did you follow the step by step installation ? ( https://docs.ancestris.org/books/user-guide/page/step-by-step-installation-on-macos )
Did you try to install the version 11 or the version 12 ?

The code is here : http://svn.ancestris.org
The information to see it is there : https://docs.ancestris.org/books/contribution/page/coding
