Some Pictures Don't Display
« on: August 15, 2020, 20:38:41 »
I just installed Ancestris.  Looks great so far but I have a lot to learn.
When I registered for this forum it said I had to post a question so here goes.
First, I tried searching for the topic using various wordings but couldn't get any responses.
I guess I don't under "search" yet.

So my problem.  I imported a family tree consisting of 537 persons created by Ahnenblatt.  Everything seems to have come over except I have found my first failure.  I had a person with 4 pictures.   Three of them appear correctly but one is the image of a camera with a slash through it.  I don't understand why.  If I try to add a picture, the one I want is listed but if I select it I get the camera image again.  I can even double click on it during the import process and the correct image opens in my jpg viewer program.

The file is only 27 KB long.

Thanks In Advance,
Pete

Thank you to use Ancestris.

The camera mention that the file is not found or the file is not displayable by the software.
You can check the path in the menu "File" => "properties" then go to the fifth step.

The first path listed is the correct one.
File Name GramlSak2,jpg
The file is 237 x 431
200 dpi
Bit depth 24
Size 29.2KB

If I right click on the camera image the image will open in Windows Photo Viewer and display correctly.  I think that means it is pointing to the correct file.

You are right.
But for some reason, the file is not understood as a picture by the software.

You can eventually send the file to me zurga at ancestris dot org.
I will check the software to see if there is something strange with the format of this file (jpeg2000 or other format renamed).

I have found the problem.  You were on the right track.
I saw that the dpi was 200 but my other pictures were 96 dpi.
I just resized the picture and now the dpi is 96 and it opens fine.

Thanks for getting me on the right track.
Maybe this will help others.
It was 237 x 431
Now it is 264 x 480.
