For the family part, this doesn't seem unusual.
The pictures should be modified from the individual form.

Yes, that makes sense but in that case the hover-over message/tooltip needs to be removed from the images in family view.

Regarding right-click on the image in indi view, I misunderstood the hover-over message/tooltip. I think it would be better if it said 'Right-click on image to replace' rather than '...add a new one'.

Looking at a family in the Aries editor, left or right-clicking on a father's or mother's default image does nothing. Right clicking on the default image in individual view brings up a window showing an image with a broken link, left-clicking brings up the image for editing as expected.

This is on Linux, latest build.

Is there a template somewhere to allow customisation of the website front page eg the 'welcome text'? I seem to recall this was once grouped with other reports and maybe had some options available...

I realise that some of these may depend upon platform/display size etc (I'm on Linux) but here goes...

1, 2, 3, 4: Increase depth of fields to match depth of buttons and other fields eg 'Place'.

5: I don't understand this label - it might need a better translation, can you explain what it is?

6: Remove this separator

7: Adjust the depth of the tab widget so it aligns with the list box at left

8: Reduce the width of the tab widget to align right edge with the one above (containing name details etc)

9: Lower edge of upper tab widget hidden - move the lower tab widget down and reduce its vertical size slightly

Hi

I have a few suggestions for improving the layout of the Aries editor, nothing radical just small adjustments to improve its appearance. Some of these date back to the time of GenJ so I'm not sure if that editor is still being actively developed. Is it worth posting a screenshot here along with details?

I think this tooltip in the Aries editor should read 'Edit the selected note' (not 'node').

System:  Linux - 5.16.0-5mx-amd64 - paul

My personal niggles:

• Little icons on editor tabs = clutter
  
• Icons along top of dynamic tree view [icons]root[icons] = messy!
  
• Font in entity table unaffected by font settings = ugly/pixellated
  
• No undo in note editor (supports ctrl+c/v but not z)
  
• Leading commas in entities table and Aries editor when data has incomplete hierarchy, for example ',Oxford, Oxfordshire, England'. Can leading comma be suppressed in display as it is in reports (eg Ancestor Narrative)?
  
• Is there a need for text denoting root person at top of dynamic view? Again, it just adds clutter IMHO. The person is highlighted in the view itself and can be seen in the tooltip of the 'centre tree on selected entity...' button
  
• Not sure if I'm doing this wrong or it's a 'one off' type bug: I enter 'Holl' in the filter/search box at the top of the entity view. I get all the 'Holland' surnames as expected with an individual 'Nicholls' at the end. He was married to one of the Holland people but none of the other partners in the 'spouses' column are listed. See example image, if this was intended behaviour Lewis and Beardmore should also be in the list.
  
• In entity table view, could the more intuitive keys Ctrl+left/right or Ctrl+PgUp/Dn be used to switch the entity type rather than '1' and '9' - they just seem weird!
  
• What does the filter box at top right in the preferences dialog do? I can't seem to get it to do anything useful!
  
• Age at Events Report. The 'options' tab could contain less pointless text by changing it to read 'Include age at...' then just the list of checkboxes labelled 'Baptism', 'Birth of Children' etc. The final options (and the report text itself) should be 'Elapsed since birth' (not 'age since birth' as they might be dead!). Elapsed since death could be added.

Good morning, I hope everyone is well.

Is this update designed simply to fetch image/pdf files from a url and display them? Personally I have no need for this but I would like to know if it's likely to have any impact on displaying local files? It would be  inconvenient if they don't display properly so I'd probably hold off upgrading until any bugs are ironed out.

I get the same message about jdkhome...

   jdkhome=
   jdkhome not defined.

when running the program from a terminal (Linux Mint 19.3) but it starts and works properly. In your case the output says...

  Checking configuration file on userdir/etc:
  Configuration file from userdir not found.

A total guess (!) but maybe try copying the ancestris.conf file from /Ancestris/etc to .ancestris/10/etc

I haven't had to use any elevated permissions to install/start/use the program so probably not that.

In few weeks, I hope, we will be able to put the v10 as an official release and then ask the community to help us to fill the repositories for most used distributions.
