ENGLISH / Nickname display in Dynamic tree
« on: April 03, 2026, 15:47:39 »
In my genealogy, many people have a nickname (Dutch: roepnaam) which is often an abbreviation or other derivative of one of the official given names, usually the first.
In my previous software, I had entered the nickname as part of the official name, in brackets, like Marinus Albert (Rien) VOGEL.
Now (after importing in Ancestris) I am deleting those parts in brackets since they are not part of the official name, and entering them instead as a NICK.
That works, but the NICK does not show up in the default view of the Dynamic tree. I have looked into changing that, but creating a new Blueprint seems challenging to me, with what looks like html coding.
Ideally I would (again) have the NICK shown in brackets in the box of that individual immediately after the given names. (But if this is too complicated, it might also be an additional line below the given names.)
How to accomplish this?

ENGLISH / Changing WIFE to HUSB
« on: April 02, 2026, 12:29:22 »
Sorry for asking so many questions. I tried to find the answer in the Documentation and through an AI search.
My previous software (Personal Ancestry File) did not allow same-sex marriage. Therefore I entered one of the partners as female at the time.
In Ancestris I want to correct this deviation from reality. I changed his SEX to M without problem. However, his role in the family is still shown as WIFE. I cannot find how to set it to HUSB.

ENGLISH / Suppressing age difference warning
« on: March 31, 2026, 14:11:47 »
In my genealogy, there is a married couple with an age difference of 23 years. This is above the maximum of 20 years, and hence flagged as a warning in the compliance report. I know that I can simply ignore the warning, but I'm striving to get no warnings or errors at all. Is there a way to suppress the warning for this specific couple, but leave it intact for any others? (There are none, but I might make a mistake in entering a birth date in the future.) Perhaps something like adding a VALID or VERIFIED entry?

I'm very new to Ancestris. I installed the software and imported a GEDCOM file exported from my previous software (PAF = Personal Ancestry File, in my case). It has 469 individuals.
Ancestris returned a list of errors, most of them due to non-standard use of GEDCOM by PAF. I quickly browsed through the "full list" and noticed a couple of things I needed to fix. But for the moment, I closed that "full list".
Now my question is: how can I find back that list? Or maybe just an "extract" of the changes, it might possibly be enough.
Is the list stored somewhere? (I checked the log file, it's not there.) Or can I re-create it, and then how?
Or even more in general: what is the best way to check and correct any anomalies resulting from imperfect GEDCOM import?

ENGLISH / Exporting User Guide to pdf fails
« on: March 27, 2026, 13:16:49 »
Hi! I am completely new to Ancestris. I found the User Guide in the form of web pages, but a linear document is more to my liking. On the right hand side, under Actions, there is an Export to pdf function. This works for small chunks of the User Guide, such as Discover Ancestris. But the largest chunk, i.e. Master Menus and Windows (71 pages), fails to export. If I click that, I get a blank screen for 15 to 30 seconds, and then "An unknown error occurred". I've tried this several times, both for English and for Dutch (my native language), but the error occurs every time. I've also tried to export the complete user guide to pdf, which is obviously even more pages... same error.
How to obtain the User Guide as pdf? Preferably both English and Dutch.
