Title: Trouble loading a GEDCOM file - possible config issue
Post by: gpemk on February 21, 2021, 20:56:10
Good evening,
I am using Ancestris 11.0.10754 on a Mac with Java 15.0.2.
I am have a GEDCOM file on the desktop, which I can see.  There are other files and folders alongside it.
When I run Ancestris and try to Import the file, I can navigate to the desktop, but the GEDCOM file is not there (nor are the other folders and files).
Could this be a JAVA issue? If so, is there an optimal version to be using?
Many thanks, Martin

Mac OS Big Sur denies access to Desktop folder (among with some others) if the software is not approved by Apple.
The team of Ancestris can't afford the price asked by Apple to approve the code.
Please, change the GEDCOM file to another folder, you will be able to see it with Ancestris.

Thank you! I encountered this same issue recently and this thread helped me out. I moved the GEDCOM files that had previously been stored on my desktop to a new folder that I placed in my user folder and named GEDCOM. All of these files showed up.

On a related note, I had tried to find files that were in my Documents folder from Ancestris, and had the same issue that I had on my Desktop. Ancestris would open Desktop or Documents, but would not show me any files or folders within those folders. But creating the folder in my user's main folder did the trick.

I am using Mac OS 12.2 Monterey.

Apple prevent Ancestris to access to folders :
- Documents
- Desktop
- Download
