Title: How to indicate a couple are not married.
Post by: JulPre on November 24, 2020, 13:41:53
I am a new user, and wonder if there is a way of indicating that a couple aren't married. My son had a child with a girlfriend, and is now married. I have entered him and the girlfried and child and the family box underneath the couple is empty. Can I remove the box or alternatively indicate that the couple didn't marry. Many thanks.

Thank you to use Ancestris.

In a typical way, if you don't create a marriage event, the couple is not married.
You can also create a specific event and precise the type as Not married.

Some GEDCOM specialists will say that you can create a marriage event with the type "Not Married" (In my humble opinion, I don't like this solution, but this is a personal point of view).

For specific help with multiple marriages, please refer to the documentation for the specific editor you use :

Or indicate the editor you use and what exactly you want to do.
