Title: Descendant list
Post by: donbenish on December 25, 2015, 05:29:58
I am new to Ancestris and am impressed by what I see so far, but I tried to create a descendant list from my gedcom file and get strange results.

For example

1.1x1.3.6 NA, Michael "Mike" (I066)* 2 Nov 1879 Linn, + 1940 Kansas
1.1x1.3.7 ... (I067)* ... , + ...
1.1x1.3.8 ... (I068)* ... , + ...
1.1x1.3.9 ... (I058)* ... , + ...

The entries just following Mike are only shown as ...  I can see no difference between the records which work correctly and the records which only give ...
This ged file was converted over from another program. Can anybody explain why one record works and others don't? It seems that most don't but sometimes several in a row work. There seems to be no apparent rhyme to what works.

Don

Hi Don,
Strange, this report works here. This could be a problem with the way the gedcom file is formated as you said it comes from another program. If you want me to test it, send a copy of your gedcom file to "francois@ancestris.org". But first, try to run the plugin gedcom validation (you can run it from the main menu : Tools - Gedcom - Gedcom validation). Merry Xmas. Francois

What I wanted to tell you on the Ancestris IRC chanel (http://en.ancestris.org/index.php?title=Ancestris_Genealogy_Program:Community_portal#IRC), was to check your privacy parameters in the Ancestris configuration menu.
From the main menu : Tools - Preferences - View and tab "privacy". Uncheck everything, and it should work as expected. If not, restart Ancestris. Hope that helps. Francois
