Donald F. Emery:
I have been involved in Genealogy for about 40 years and working with genealogy programs and GEDCOM files but mostly on Windows. In recent years I have developed a dislike for windows which has created a problem for me as my genealogy program is only available in Windows. I recently found links to the Ancestris and the availability for it to run on ubuntu-Linix. I am giving the program a try and although it seems to be fairly new it is a well developed program and meets my needs on Linux to keep track of my genealogy data. Thanks for a great program. I have 6500 individuals in my GEDCOM.

oops66:
You're right, Ancestris is a great and customizable program, thank you for your post.

Hi
Welcome, Donald.
I, too, am new to Ancestris and very much enjoying the learning curve.
I also wanted to introduce myself, and, thank Francios for his wonderful efforts in helping me.

Hello Dale,
The concept for Ancestris is : Users helping users ;-)
So if we can help, we will help. Welcome onboard. Francois

arvernes:
Hi,
If OpenJDK is missing, you have to install it first.
A search with Google gave me that :
Haiku Port Project
The Haiku port project is sponsored by the OpenJDK Porters Group, with the bulk of contributors belonging also to the Haiku Java Team.
This project will deliver a complete OpenJDK port to the Haiku operating system.

Once java installed, you will be able to install Ancestris and run it. Francois
